SMPS provides a unique program with the opportunity for children to experience both adult-led and child initiated learning. We value children’s voices and are guided by their interests, curiosities, knowledge and questions that lead us on a path of shared discovery.

How to Apply?
Children wishing to attend South Mornington Pre School for either the 3-year old or 4-year old program are required to apply through Mornington Peninsula Shire Councils Kindergarten Central Registration system. Applications are usually open via the council during March – June, with placement offers announced later in the year.
Please follow the below link for further details (including age requirements, allocation process and dates), as well as to submit an application online.
The Victorian Government provides funding to kindergarten and long day care services to deliver high quality kindergarten programs in the two years before school. This helps to ensure all Victorian children get the best start in life.
The Victorian Government also provides Free kinder funding to your service so that you don’t have to pay fees. This saves you and your family up to $2,563 per year.
Your child can access one funded year in a Three-Year-Old Kindergarten program (between 5 and 15 hours per week) and one funded year in a Four-Year-Old kindergarten program (15 hours per week).
In Victoria, children must turn 3 years old by 30 April
in the year they attend 3-year-old kindergarten. If you choose to enrol your
child and they have not yet turned 3 at the beginning of the kinder year but
will do so before the 30 April cut-off, they are eligible to attend. However,
please note that a parent or carer must remain on-site for the duration of
each session until the child turns 3.
All enrolments for both 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten on the Mornington
Peninsula are managed through the Kindergarten Central Registration
system on the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council’s website. During the
registration process, families will have the opportunity to nominate their
preferred groups. While we do our best to accommodate as many preferences
as possible, please be aware that each year’s enrolments vary, and
unfortunately, not all families may receive their first choice. We appreciate
your understanding and flexibility as we work to place every child
thoughtfully.
